Hello! I’m
Maryssa Almasy
I am a recent graduate in Graphic Design from NC State University with an Anthropology minor. I love working in studio and also doing art on my own. I just completed a study abroad in Prague for my last semester of school and am currently working as a freelance designer!
Featured Work
Check out my work in the studio at NC State! My projects tend to focus on creating a positive user experience through research and user-friendly interfaces.

EMTs and Autonomous Vehicles
A semester-long senior design project collaborating with Red Hat to analyze the potential benefits of data collection and autonomous vehicles (AVs) in order to improve EMT care

Plants that Changed the World
A poster series focusing on various plants from around the world that influenced the field of horticulture.

Best in Show
A series of pictograms designed for branding and wayfinding for dog show competitions. Included the use of 3D modeling and printing.

Maranta Power
This semester long project allowed me and my team to work with a real-world client that specializes in curly hair care products. Maranta Power is built on the idea of self-acceptance of natural beauty and embracing one’s curly hair.

Freelance
Outside of school, I also work as a multimedia freelance for designer. I’ve created
website layouts, illustrations, videos, and more for various clients ranging from local
mystery authors to graduate students to wholesale product sellers.
In March 2021, I competed in the AMA Triangle and Charlotte Marketing Jam Competition. Myself and a group of students designed and presented a marketing campaign pitch for Activate Good, a local nonprofit. Our team ended up winning first place!
AMA Marketing Jam Competition
This project was for a local event at Dix Park to represent the history and recognition of local indigenous communities in Raleigh. Designs included a save the date e-vite, a pamphlet, a presentation title screen, and a tag for tobacco bundles handed out at the event.
In Plain Sight
Eric Lodin Mystery Novelist
A local mystery novelist, Eric Lodin recently released his first novel in the Soft Hearts series. I designed his website using the Divi plugin for Wordpress, selecting a unique color scheme to match the mood of his story. I also designed his logo to use for future branding.
This site became a platform to showcase a graduate student’s project surrounding Dorothea Dix Park and the stories of the Native Americans, slaves, and patients who lived there that are vital additions to the complex history of the location.
Every Path Speaks
Another mystery novelist, Kathleen Heady has several books released as well as an author blog. I was tasked with updating the site to make it more aesthetically pleasing, make it easier to access the blog, and showcase her newest book releases.
Headywriting
For another graduate student, this website presented the story of the 34th Avenue Open Street Project and the people who are an integral part to its liveliness, maintenance, and success.
34th Avenue Oral History
To promote Walk to Defeat ALS fundraisers, walks, programs, and other events, this website was designed to sell wholesale products that can be used at the events and promote the task of raising money to find a cure for ALS.

Personal Projects
Besides working in the studio and completing freelance projects, I love
hands-on art that allows me to get creative! I usually stick to painting with
acrylics, but I always love trying new forms of media!
